Currently vfs.rst does not render well into HTML the method descriptions
for VFS data structures. We can improve the HTML output by putting the
description string on a new line following the method name.

vfs.txt is currently stale. If we convert it to RST this is a good
first step in the process of getting the VFS documentation up to date.
This patch does the following (all as a single patch so as not to
introduce any new SPHINX build warnings)
- Use '.. code-block:: c' for C code blocks and indent the code blocks.
- Use double backticks for struct member descriptions.
- Fix a couple of build warnings by guarding pointers (*) with double
backticks .e.g ``*ptr``.
- Add vfs to Documentation/filesystems/index.rst
The member descriptions paragraph indentation was not touched. It is
not pretty but these do not cause build warnings. These descriptions
all need updating anyways so leave it as it is for now.

There are bunch of places with 8 spaces, in preparation for correctly
indenting all code snippets (during conversion to RST) change these to
use tabspaces.

heading adornments follow this scheme except the document heading.

In preparation for conversion to RST format use the kernels favoured
documentation column width. If we are going to do this we might as well
do it thoroughly. Just do the paragraphs (not the indented stuff), the
rest will be done during indentation fix up patch.
This patch is whitespace only, no textual changes.
Use 72 character column width for all paragraph sections.

Currently the file has a bunch of spaces before tabspaces. This is a
nuisance when patching the file because they show up whenever we touch
these lines. Let's just fix them all now in preparation for doing the
RST conversion.

The "no structured comments found" warning is not particularly useful if
there are several invocations, one of which is looking for something
wrong. So if something specific has been requested, make it clear that
it's the one we weren't able to find.

Documentation/driver-api/target.rst is seeking kerneldoc comments in
drivers/target/target_core_device.c, but no such comments exist. Take out
the kernel-doc directive and eliminate one warning from the build.

The stratix10 service layer documentation tried to include a kerneldoc
comments for a nonexistent struct; leading to a "no structured comments
found" message. Switch it to stratix10_svc_command_config_type, which
appears at that spot in the sequence and was not included.

I "fixed" it by changing the subsections in i915.rst, but that didn't seem
like the correct change. It turns out that a couple of i915 files create
their own subsections in kerneldoc comments using apostrophes as the

That breaks the normal subsection marker ordering, and newer Sphinx is
rather more strict about enforcing that ordering. So fix the offending
comments to make Sphinx happy.
(This is unfortunate, in that kerneldoc comments shouldn't need to be aware
of where they might be included in the heading hierarchy, but I don't see
a better way around it).

Our version check in Documentation/conf.py never envisioned a world where
Sphinx moved beyond 1.x. Now that the unthinkable has happened, fix our

AutoReporter is going away; recent versions of sphinx emit a warning like:

Make the switch. But switch_source_input() only showed up in 1.7, so we

Recent versions of sphinx will emit messages like:

Pull powerpc fixes from Michael Ellerman:
"One fix going back to stable, for a bug on 32-bit introduced when we
added support for THREAD_INFO_IN_TASK.
A fix for a typo in a recent rework of our hugetlb code that leads to
crashes on 64-bit when using hugetlbfs with a 4K PAGE_SIZE.
Two fixes for our recent rework of the address layout on 64-bit hash
CPUs, both only triggered when userspace tries to access addresses
outside the user or kernel address ranges.
Finally a fix for a recently introduced double free in an error path
in our cacheinfo code.

"Some SGI IP27 specific PCI rework and a batch of fixes:
- A build fix for BMIPS5000 configurations with
CONFIG_HW_PERF_EVENTS=y, which also neatly removes some #ifdefery.
- A fix to report supported ISAs correctly on older Ingenic SoCs
which incorrectly indicate MIPSr2 support in their cop0 Config
register.
- Some PCI modernization for SGI IP27 systems as part of ongoing work
to support some other SGI systems.
- A fix allowing use of appended DTB files with generic kernels.
- DMA mask fixes for SGI IP22 & Alchemy systems"

Pull RISC-V updates from Palmer Dabbelt:
"This contains an assortment of RISC-V related patches that I'd like to
target for the 5.2 merge window. Most of the patches are cleanups, but
there are a handful of user-visible changes:
- The nosmp and nr_cpus command-line arguments are now supported,
which work like normal.
- The SBI console no longer installs itself as a preferred console,
we rely on standard mechanisms (/chosen, command-line, hueristics)
instead.
- sfence_remove_sfence_vma{,_asid} now pass their arguments along to
the SBI call.
- Modules now support BUG().
- A missing sfence.vma during boot has been added. This bug only
manifests during boot.
- The arch/riscv support for SiFive's L2 cache controller has been
merged, which should un-block the EDAC framework work.
I've only tested this on QEMU again, as I didn't have time to get
things running on the Unleashed. The latest master from this morning
merges in cleanly and passes the tests as well"

'ifeq ... else ifneq ... endif' notation is supported by GNU Make 3.81
or later, which is the requirement for building the kernel since
commit 37d69ee308 ("docs: bump minimal GNU Make version to 3.81").
Use it to improve the readability.
